The purpose of this program is to minimize the impact of residential wood burning on air quality in communities throughout the Comox Valley.
To help reduce local wood smoke pollution, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) has $700 rebates available on a first-come first-served basis to homeowners who are exchanging 5+ year old wood stove for a pellet stove, gas heating appliance (propane or natural gas) or a heat pump.
A limited number of $2,500 top up rebates are available for exchanging to an electric heat pump if the property is located within West Courtenay (lands west of the Courtenay River) or the Village of Cumberland.
*** Currently, the program is fully subscribed for 2020 except for residents in West Courtenay or Cumberland that remove their wood stoves and install a qualifying heat pump.***
