Currently heated primarily by an electric system?
There is up to $7,000 in combined rebates you could be eligible for to replace your current electric heating system with a heat pump. BC Hydro is offering up to $2,000 and the federal government’s Canada Greener Homes grant is offering up to $5,000. Heat pumps move heat from one place to another making them much more efficient than an electric furnace or baseboard heaters.

Currently heated by natural gas, propane or oil?
Up to $11,000 is available for switching from a fossil fuel source to an electric heat pump. The total combination utilizes multiple rebates including up to a $3,000 rebate top-up from BC Hydro alongside CleanBC's existing $3,000 rebate for a total of $6,000 while funding lasts. There is also up to $5,000 available in rebates from the federal government’s Greener Homes Grant. The Greener Homes Grant has a specific application process which requires registration and a home energy audit prior to making any upgrades.

The Income Qualified Program will cover up to $5000 for switching from an electric resistance heat source such as baseboards to a heat pump. The amount covered is based on the homes income level as shown in the table below. Tier 1 will cover up to 95% of the cost to a maximum of $5000 and tier 2 will cover up to 60%. This can be combined with the Federal Greener Homes rebate for a combined value of $10,000.
